2.31a, 2.31c (6 Nov. 2006)
|
New
|
Rewriting of real names appearing in senders' addresses in outgoing
mail. More details in the online help file. |

Under certain (rare) conditions it could happen that the scheduler would
stop retrieving POP3 mail. |
Fix

PYTHEAS MailGate Release 2.21, 2.21a...d,
2.21f (Nov. 25th, 2003)
|
MyDoom Update |
With this update you can instruct the outgoing queue manager
to freeze non delivery report for a considerable amount of time, typically
24 hours. These can then be removed form the queue of outgoing messages
after review.
When may this be useful for you? ... if you also have a
direct SMTP feed from the Internet to your mail server, and outgoing mail
is handled by PYTHEAS MailGate. With the direct SMTP feed, it may
be that your mail server sends out a considerable amounts of infected non
delivery reports. Write to
pmgsupport@pytheas.com.
Some technical details about MyDoom. Infected computers
send infected messages to non existent SMTP addresses in your messaging
domain, while spoofing the sender's address of such messages, which really
exists. Your mail server then sends an infected non delivery report to the
spoofed sender's address (this behaviour is mandatory, according to RFC
2821).
|
|
New |
Anti-Spam analysis interface
for SpamAssassin. |
New
2.21a |
Can set a size limit for messages to be examined by SpamAssassin. |
New
2.21d |
SpamAssassin interface:
- now allows special handling for messages above a certain (high) spam level.
- now allows passing a special parameter to the batch file which launches
SpamAssassin; this parameter can be different for each POP3 account, and
allows to switch the SpamAssassin configuration.
|
|
New |
From the View/Delete messages form for a POP3
account, you can now save the contents of a whole message to a file in RFC822
format (press F10 to access this function). |
New
2.21a |
When using a specified message header line for incoming
mail routing: now, the nth instance of such a header can be used.
This is known to be useful with mail servers writing 2 Delivered-To
header lines, the first being useless for message routing. Use the following
syntax to use the second instance: Delivered-To*2 |
New
2.21d |
Has been checked to work with Microsoft Exchange 2003. |
|
Change |
In case the sender of an incoming message gets a notification
both for sending a message to someone on the Left organization
list, no other notification will be sent (especially, the address
unknown in domain notification will not be sent). |
|
Change |
Outgoing mail: more consistent handling of temporary errors:
- freeze messages with temporary errors (4xx SMTP server response) for a
certain amount of time (new parameter to set the amount of time, see help
file for more details);
- transient errors now always handled as such.
|
Change
2.21a |
Messages with temporary errors are now returned to the sender
and removed from the outbound queue after a certain amount of time (see
online help for more details).
The Warning - message still undelivered (OutgoingStillQueued.txt)
template supports a new parameter: %RetryHrsLeft% so the sender
of such a message learns how much time is left before PYTHEAS MailGate
will give up. To include this information in the notification message, either
edit your personalized template, or replace it with the standard template
from this release. |
|
Change |
The %UnsuccessfulRecips% parameter is now also supported
in the message subject of notifications sent back to the sender of an incoming
message. |
|
Change |
Session log messages to a remote destination
are now sent earlier when outgoing mail is not handled through PYTHEAS
MailGate, or when the outgoing mail schedule is independent of the
incoming mail session schedule.
Fix: the contents of such messages no longer
grow in size.
Fix (2.21a): Another problem with Session Log messages, which
existed for a short time in v. 2.21, has also been fixed. |
|
Change |
You can now set a originator address for notifications sent
back the the sender of a message in full RFC822 format, such as "My name"
<postmaster@domain.com>. |
Change
2.21a |
Better error reporting for errors when accessing the
Left-organization list. |
Change
2.21d |
A postmaster address given on the Logging page is now also
used for Session Log messages sent to (internal) Recipients, and for any
other notifications sent to (internal) Recipients. |
Change
2.21d |
Outgoing Mail page, Try connection
to the ISP's SMTP server now takes the HELO=
parameter set in PMailGat.INI into account. FYI, this parameter allows to
configure the FQDN used in the HELO/EHLO dialog when sending outgoing mail. |
Change
2.21d |
Works with SpamAssassin v. 2.6 (the 2.21e-hotfix
is no longer necessary). |
|
Fix |
You should no longer get an occasional
division by 0-error when trying a connection
to a POP3 account. |
|
Fix |
Saving the file containing the Content-Checking rules added
two extra spaces to the end of the message template for the message to be
sent back to the sender of a message. |
Fix
2.21b/c |
Content-Checking rules with the don't
download option should work consistently now, regardless of the greyed-out
What to do settings. Strings to search for can now include
commas. |
Fix
2.21c |
The SpamAssassin interface should now also
work as expected on Windows NT 4. |
Fix
2.21d |
The Set Session Log error flag parameter for
Content-Checking rules should now work as expected. |
Fix
2.21f |
... of this problem. |
|
PYTHEAS MailGate Release 2.20 (December
5th, 2002)
|
New |
New modular pricing scheme. Outgoing mail module and Content-Checking
engine can now be purchased separately. |
|
New |
New features for Content-Checking rules:
- can now work on a selected POP3 account only,
- can now be used to avoid downloading,
- can now send a bounce message to the sender of an intercepted message,
- fine tuning when session log messages should be sent, in
case of a message interception,
- parameters can be specified in separate files. |
|
New |
When a message to an unknown email address in your messaging
domain is received, the sender of this message can now automatically be
notified. |
|
New |
You can now establish a list of email addresses (for people
who left your organization, for example). Whenever a message is received
for such an address, the sender of the message is notified. |
|
New |
The product has been checked to work with Lotus Domino R6
servers. |
|
New |
An upper time limit can now be set to keep an outgoing SMTP
connection. This should allow for smoother outgoing queue management. Default
value is 5 min. |
|
Change |
Change how Content-Checking rules work when more that one
file-name pattern for Attachment names is specified:
- a Pass-Through Rule requires that ALL attachment file names match
a pattern in the rule,
- an Intercept Rule requires that at least one of the attachment
file names match a pattern in the Rule. |
|
Change |
Session log messages are now sent when a
Relaying denied-error occurs for outgoing mail. |
|
Fix |
Outgoing messages with embedded ASCII-26 characters are
handled as expected. |
|
